Attended Oceanside High School, lettering in football, basketball, and track and field

Named offensive MVP in the Avocado League, led Oceanside to the CIF San Diego 2A championship game

Helped USC beat Michigan 17-10 in the Rose Bowl, earned Associated Press All-America honors for the season
