There are many ways to get rich and gain more passive income. You can do freelancing, sell art online, and even play video games.
Video games had a bad rap back in the day. If you were spending your free time on your PS2, your Dad probably told you that it was a waste of time.
However, today it’s an actual sport– a profitable one.
Professional gaming is one of the most lucrative jobs out there. It’s mind-boggling how playing video games can pay bills, but it is what it is.
It’s so lucrative that gamers can outearn their presidents by millions of dollars and it’s one of the most sought after jobs for younger generations such as Millennials.
The rise of esports
As esports gaming becomes more and more popular, gamers can now earn cash from their chosen career paths.
According to Influencer Marketing Hub, the eSports industry has seen tremendous growth over the years.
Viewers for the sport have grown significantly. Since 2016, there has been an increase in viewers, and in 2018-2019, there was an increase of 12.3% in viewership.
In February 2020, COVID slowed down the viewer growth rate by 11.7%.
The eSports industry’s rise is also thanks to platforms offering live coverage such as Twitch and YouTube.
It’s not that easy
Some gamers have earned more than their president! However, not everyone with a gaming console and free time can achieve these milestones.
It’s not a piece of cake to become a professional gamer. A few hours of gaming won’t earn you the skill and tenacity of those who have performed in world tournaments.
Gamers work hard at what they do. To achieve the level they’re at right now, it took them endless hours of practice, state-of-the-art equipment, and intense focus. Not to mention excellent teamwork, strategizing, and working under a lot of pressure.
Despite the side-eye professional gamers receive, we can’t help but stare in awe at their achievements.
